I’ve been using Hardy rods ever since they sent me the original SINTRIX rods to try nearly 15 years ago. The new Hardy Marksman rods are, in my opinion, the biggest leap forward since the first Hardy SINTRIX rod hit the market well over a decade ago.
I love both the freshwater Marksman and the saltwater Marksman Z range: Light, crisp and precise… absolute state-of-the-art fly fishing kit. I also love the new stealthy non-reflective matte finish. Perfection.
I have used the rods to catch everything from the big golden Dorado of the Bolivian Jungle to the high-flying tarpon of Ascension Bay to the monster rainbows of Jurassic Lake and they have done everything that I have asked of them.
Hats off to Howard Croston, Al Dandie and everyone at Hardy involved in designing these beautiful rods. Good on you!

I visited Sportfish Reading to try the Hardy Marksman 9' 6# rod just after Christmas. The conditions were awful but the rod was extremely accurate despite this. It felt responsive and really nice to cast. I also tried the 10' 7# which was even better in the conditions. In the end, I bought both and couldn't be happier. Big thanks to Josh and Robin for organizing things.
