Bought this to take advantage of superior strength for a given diameter - in this case, 4lb b.s. Rio is approximately the same diameter as 3lb b.s. Maxima. I have only used this on one trip so far, so the jury is still out. However, I'm not entirely convinced regarding abrasion resistance. In two cases, the tippet became caught up around a twig or a dead reed stem. After untangling and checking for surface roughness, all appeared to be fine. Shortly after, in both cases, a decent but unspectacular fish (14 - 16 inches) broke the tippet at about the point it had caught up on the twig/reed. I am as confident as I can be that I would not have lost those fish on 3 lb Maxima. As I say, the jury is still out, so will update this review in due course.
