Guideline Fario Fly Rod Review

Guideline Fario Fly Rod Review
The Guideline Fario is a beauty.  Promoting power from the butt section with a soft and forgiving tip allows for accurate delivery of flies against a breeze while protecting those fragile tippets on the strike.  Its forgiving action allows for easy casting with plenty of power in reserve when needed.

Built predominantly for river work the cosmetics also don’t disappoint with etched detailing on the bottom of the handle lustrous finish and the most beautiful wooden reels inserts ive seen on a mass produced rod.  They are outstanding, I wouldn’t fish a river in the UK without one.  The 10ft 4wt is my go to nymphing rod, the extra length allowing for absolute control and tracking of the flies when Czech nymphing and the ability to hold flies in the current for longer provides a massive advantage when deep nymphing.  Setting the hook is effortless and when playing fish the forgiving action comes into its own absorbing all the lunges and power of the fish with ease.

In the smaller sizes it is a beautiful dry fly/top of the water rods and its ability to turn flies over into the wind and protect those tippets is very impressive.

Don’t dismiss this rod in the 5 or 6wt either for Stillwater work. All of these advantages still apply to top of the water and subsurface nymphing, plenty of power when needed to get the flies to the fish and as a dry fly/emerger rod it is awesome.

It is one of my all time favourite rods .
