Autumn fly fishing for salmon on the River Tweed is, for many, the pinnacle of their salmon career, and rightly so. This is prime time on the Tweed, one of the most prolific salmon rivers in Europe, and with runs at their highest at this time of year, you have every chance of hooking that ‘fish of your dreams’.

Our courses are relaxed and sociable but there is plenty of solid assistance on hand too with Campbell Thomson S.G.A.I.C (Both courses) and gillie Kevin Patterson (Tweedswood course only) making sure you develop the skills needed to tackle every eventuality.

We have two courses to offer this year on middle Tweed.

Course 1 – Tweedswood - Six rods

Cost: £1699.00 per rod

Dates: 17th - 19th Sept - Arrive Sun 16th fish 17th, 18th and 19th Sept (depart from the hotel on the morning of the 19th prior to your last day’s fishing)

The Tweedswood Beat

Tweedswood is a renowned and picturesque beat on the middle stretches of the River Tweed, which provides one mile of double bank fishing upstream of the A68, under the old railway viaduct. Due to its proximity to the A68 access to the river is very good, Edinburgh is 34 miles to the north, and the market town of Melrose is two miles to the west.

The Tweedswood beat provides excellent salmon fishing. The river banks are regularly maintained to ensure ease of access and there is easy, safe wading along the stretch.

Course 2 - Bemersyde - Six Rods

Cost: £1699.00 per rod

Dates: 20th - 22nd Sept - Arrive Wed 19th fish 20th, 21st and 22nd Sept (depart from the hotel on the morning of the 22nd prior to your last day’s fishing)

The Bemersyde Beat

Bemersyde combines excellent fishing on the most stunning location on the river. The river loops past the Eildon Hills in a beautiful wooded gorge giving fishers complete seclusion from the outside world. The stretch is one mile long, with two-thirds of it double bank fishing, and it provides fishing of an interesting nature, with a pool or stream for every height of water.

The Accommodation

We will be staying at the Townhouse in Melrose for both courses. Situated opposite its sister hotel in the town square, this family-run hotel is a three-minute walk from the ruins of medieval Melrose Abbey and ten minutes' walk from the River Tweed.

The contemporary rooms have en suite bathrooms, wi-fi access and satellite TV, plus tea and coffee making equipment. The staff, food and bedrooms are first class and you will be afforded every level of comfort. We certainly can’t wait to get back there!

Whether you are new to the sport or are someone who just wants to improve their knowledge these courses offer the perfect opportunity to build skills, be introduced to two of the best beats on the river and to create memories which will last a lifetime.

There is plenty of assistance available on these courses with two instructors making sure you develop the skills needed to tackle every eventuality and the two gillies at Bemersyde. You can be sure that all efforts will be made to afford you the chance of making those dreams come true.
