I wish I'd spent more money.
The vice looks great when it's taken out of the box. But when it's set up for use, all of its flaws become apparent. The Allen key socket was stripped before it was turned enough to stop the head from folding down. So any knocks or nudges put it straight out of the correct positioning. All the thumb screws are stiff and hard to tighten making the vice rotate at inappropriate moments. And they're not helped by being too sharp to grip properly.
I'm not a beginner when it comes to fly tying. But I haven't done any for quite a while. This vice seemed like a good way to get back into it without spending a fortune. But I wish now that I'd gone with my first idea which was to buy a vice costing two or three times this price. That way I wouldn't have had to put up with this one which seemingly has a mind of its own when it comes to positioning! As the saying goes, "Buy cheap. Buy twice."
