I specifically bought the 10000 so I could use the reel with Skagit heads and an OPST mono running line. The latter slips through a gap in the reel about every three casts.
Don't fall for the hype like I did - avoid it!

As agreed, having spoken to Hardy directly and tried unsuccessfully to replicate the problem ourselves, we look forward to receiving your reel so it can be examined for any possible defect. We have also, for now, changed the product description on our website (supplied to us by Hardy) to remove reference to the reel allowing for “the use of ultra-thin fly lines and running lines as well as ESN leader-only systems”.

Lovely bit of kit, perfect match for the #6 Ultralite X. Does everything I want. Itching to get started in the upcoming 2023 season
Lovely reel. I bought the 2/3/4 - would not usually go beyond a click and pawl for such light line and usually small fish, but occasionally I hook into browns, sea trout or grayling of 2, 3lbs +, so I thought it worthwhile this time. Especially when it is so light - the weight of reels with drag systems always put me off before. It's as good as I hoped for - light, lovely smooth and highly adjustable drag with hardly any start-up inertia, while retaining the lovely click of an old-fashioned click and pawl. Superb reel!
I now have two of these reels, the first was purchased to achieve a nice balance with my Ulralite LL 9ft 9ins 3wt. The second is a size bigger. I find the low weight and arbour size just right, the clutch is good and the quality is first class!
I have just bought two of these elegant and ultra light fly reels for salmon fishing in small rivers in Denmark. One in the size 6000 for a one hand fly rod and the second in the size 7000 for a light double handed fly rod. The reels are beatutifull and very light and they suit the purpose for which I will use them perfectly.
I have equipped the fly reels with a gel spun backing line from Scientific Anglers, running lines from Rio (Powerflex Max) anf shooting heads from Guideline (Compact Power Taper and ULS) .
