Speyworks SLP
I have been using the new Speyworks SLP double handed salmon rods this season, and I have found them the perfect allround tool for all my fishing. I fish both big rivers like the Tweed and Tay, and smaller rivers like the North Esk and Rede, and it’s not often I’ve found one type of rod that suits both.
The rods are lighter than similar rods I have used, with a crisp but forgiving action, perfect for all types of Speycasts. They give me delicate presentation on the average cast but equally have the power in reserve when i need to lay out a longer line.
I have both the 14 foot 9/10 and 15 foot 10/11. My everyday preference – and that of most of the friends that have cast it is for the 14 footer, a beautiful rod that literally makes light of a long days fishing. A Tay gillie that tried it also described it as a No1 rod. That said when it comes to bigger flies and longer lines the 15 footer comes into it’s own. You need to work it a little harder than the shorter rod, but it certainly produces the goods. It will be my ‘go to’ rod for Spring fishing from now on.
With the quality of the finish and a well designed, ‘non roll’ solid carry tube, if there is a better rod for the price on the market, then I haven’t found it.

Speyworks Double Hand Salmon Rods
I have had my 15' speyworks rod for three months now and have to say how impressed I am with it. I much prefer it to some of the much more expensive rods my friends own. A great product at a great price.

Speyworks Double Hand Salmon Rods
The wait is over! At last my new 14' Speyworks rod has arrived and on my first trip today it landed an 8lb spring salmon (caught on a Speyworks fly). Bill Drury must be one of the best rod designers around this rod is amazing. I am thinking of getting the 15' next to add to my collection. A great product at a great price.
