With a revolutionary design that allows for incredible loop stability at distance, a unique taper that allows a rod to load at close range and a positive front taper that delivers perfect presentation of flies between sizes #22 and #2 , the RIO Gold is the ultimate all-around, floating line for freshwater fly fishing. The long back taper is excellent for mending and for roll and spey casting and the running line and head are different colours, making it easy to find the line’s perfect loading point. The line features RIO’s XS Technology for an extraordinarily slick, dirt-repelling coating, as well as RIO’s AgentX and Super Floatation Technology that ensure the tip and the running line will float high. A welded loop on both ends of the fly line facilitates changing leaders and allows for fast rigging and line changes..

But what about Rio iLine?

I agree that Rio Gold is a great general purpose line but, in the background of the video is the black box of Rio iLine, possibly Rio's most game-changing innovation for the general angler, albeit still under wraps. Tethered or overhead casts and the flexibility between the two makes this a major advance over specialist lines for all but the expert. I look forward to on-line reviews of this remarkable invention that brings the extraordinary in the reach of the ordinary, personally speaking.

Superb floating line

Have been really impressed with this line. The welded loop is convenient and trouble free so far. The line exhibits very little memory in hot or cold conditions and the turnover is precise and delicate. The weighting helps get line out quickly but is forgiving of badly timed casts. Would have no hesitation recommending.
