Sea Trout Fishing Golden Grove River Towy

Sportfish held its Sea Trout courses on the Towy at Golden Grove this season, with huge success. All three courses were sold out and some big fish were landed. Ken Geffrey landed the best Sea Trout of all groups on high water and was esstimated at 7lbs. The knowledge that our clients went away with will be invaluable for the future. Sportfish have now confirmed the dates for the 2011 season.
Sea Trout fishing is often seen as a mysterious and difficult pastime available only to a chosen few. Why not let Sportfish, together with some of the best sea trout anglers around, let you into its secrets.
Sportfish have reserved the fantastic Golden Grove fishery during prime time to give you a great chance of landing some really big Sea Trout this coming season. Together with one of our highly experienced instructors you will be able to share in beat ghillie Jamie Harries' wealth of knowledge both of the Towy and his beloved Sewin.
Golden Grove boasts some exceptional night time stories with some extremely big Sea Trout landed, notably recently a 15.4lb fish taken on fly at night. However if the river is too high to fish at night we will be targeting the river during the day, either with fly or spinner. Day time fishing is equally rewarding and provides another string to your bow.
To give all our clients the best chance of taking as much knowledge as possible away with them, we will be inviting a local fly tier to your hotel to demonstrate the diffrent patterns you will be using over the course. Another local expert Sea Trout angler will also be on hand over the course to help with each group.
Here is what one client said about last years trip....."After a few years fishing for trout and grayling I thought it time for a new challenge and decided that 2011 would be the year to try for a sea trout. After chatting to the guys at Sportfish I decided that the hosted Golden Grove River Towy trip would be the best introduction to sea trout fishing.
After a wonderful three days I must thank Tom (Sportfish) & Jamie (ghillie on Golden Grove) for their energy, enthusiasm and commitment to making the course a success. Tom's casting tuition and rivercraft advice combined with Jamie's local knowledge and passion for the Towy was a real winner.
I would wholly recommend this course to anyone considering sea trout fishing or wanting to fish the famed Golden Grove beat with some tuition and guiding. It is a truly unique experience wading and fishing at night and the sea trout splashing in the dark is trully magical.
The knowledge I gained was invaluable and I will be putting into practice and learning more on the course in 2012."
