The Guru is a fully-machined barstock reel. Sharing the same diameters as the Velocity, it is a true large arbor reel. The signature arm-style element on the frame combines with open spokes to maximize structural strength and minimize weight. Built around Lamson's famous conical drag system and finished in metallic silver, this reel offers great looks and performance far beyond its price tag.

Great reel, I love it Review by Cookie

When we buy our kit most of us need to compromise, I love fly fishing but telling the wife I've just spent £300 of a reel is something I plan to save untill I book a bonefish holiday. In the meantime this is cracking reel, beautiful, tactile and pretty light, most importantly for me it makes a very nice noise. I've got one of these reels for my 4 wt Orvis Hydros which is my go to rod, I use it the most. I've got a Lamson Konic for my rarely used Sage TXL (but for the Dove it is perfection) and an Orvis Acess for my 6 wt Z-Axis (on windy days) both reels are great but the Guru has the edge.

It's a feel good thing, I look farward to getting it out of its little neoprene case and fixing it to the rod and if the wind isn't up I know I'm going to spend a couple fo happy hours casting delicately and catching fish.

If it is in your budget I recomend it, otherwise just buy a cheap reel and spend the extra on fishing. Let's face it reels don't matter, they just store the line neatly. Makes a very very nice noise though... (Posted on 12/05/2012)
