If you look past the bad pun for a title there’s an issue surrounding the boobie fishing tactics. Is it course or fly?

The Boobie fishing tactics are to sit on top of the water until a fish bites, sounds similar to course fishing, however the difference is that in course fishing you would usually use bait, like a maggot. But this is a fly, which isn’t alive and is easily reusable, unlike the course fishing bait.

On the other hand, the resemblance between boobie fishing and course are outstanding. In boobie fishing you do just leave it out in the middle of the lake or river to float until a fish decides to bite it, moreover course fishing consists of pretty much the same thing except the fact the bait will sink not float on top.

According to Some fly fishers there are a few things wrong with boobie fishing. Firstly the method of boobie fishing is too similar too course fishing, which is why the boobie fishers should have to fish on course fishing lakes and rivers. Secondly its cheating say some I spoke to one fisherman who thought that no one should be allowed to use them in his local lake. “If your not allowed to use bait then you shouldn’t be allowed to use boobies, they’re practically the same!” said one angry fly fisherman when I interviewed him about the boobie fishing.

In conclusion to my article the debateable usage of boobies in fly fishing, there is no compromise. They should either be used or not be used, so for the moment boobies can be used at fly fishing lakes and rivers but for how long?
